Parma Hotels and Accommodation

(Parma, Emilia-Romagna, Italy)

Picture of the Via RepubblicaA large variety of accommodation is available in Parma, which is suitable for both business and leisure travellers. Accommodation options range from hotel rooms housed within Parma's picturesque townhouses and villas, to modern, purpose-built hotels with a wide range of facilities to match.

Parma is a popular place to spend a weekend break, so hotel rates are generally geared towards this and therefore lower during the week. However, it's worth noting that during Parma's main trade fair season, in spring and autumn, this may change. In particular, hotels that are especially popular with business travellers may fill up quickly and it's advisable to book your lodging in advance.

Where to Stay

A number of very well-appointed hotels can be found within the appealing historic centre of Parma. These offer all the modern amenities you'd expect of a top-of-the-range hotel, including in-house restaurants, private parking and leisure facilities, and are suited to both business and leisure visitors. Their handy central location makes them ideal for those who have a busy sightseeing itinerary. Parma now also boasts its very first five-star hotel, the Sofitel Parma Grand Hotel de la Ville.

Visitors who are looking for a more peaceful setting in which to stay may prefer to stay on the west bank of the river, amidst the tranquility of the nearby Parc Ducale. The Hotel Villa Ducale is particularly notable for its country villa appearance.

If you're planning to travel to one of Parma's spring or autumn trade fairs, then it makes sense to stay on the edge of the city, close to the trade fair district of the city. The well-known Parma and Congressi Hotel is ideally located close to the main exhibition centre, as well as being only a few minutes' drive to both the train station and Parma Airport.

Apart from a handful of cheap hotels, accommodation and lodging options for budget travellers in Parma are rather limited, but visitors are well-catered for by the city's new youth hostel. Located on Via San Leonardo, just outside of Parma's outer ring road, the hostel connects to the city centre and train station via regular bus services. As well as offering comfortable accommodation, the hostel includes Internet and WiFi, as well as family en-suite rooms.
