Kilkenny Art Galleries

(Kilkenny, Republic of Ireland)

National Craft Gallery photoKilkenny is an interesting city with a surprising amount of Irish culture and handicrafts, thanks in no small part to the Kilkenny Art Gallery Society, which dates back to the early 1940s. If you are keen on art, then you will likely encounter the city's two established art galleries, since they are based at the number one tourist attraction, Kilkenny Castle.

The castle is where you will find both the National Craft Gallery and the Butler Gallery, each of which has something different to offer visitors. Exhibitions include contemporary paintings and stylish textiles, showcasing the creations of modern-day Irish artists.
