Debrecen Events and Festivals 2014 / 2015
(Debrecen, Hajdu-Bihar, Hungary)
Many annual events take place in Debrecen and offer tourists plenty of ways to keep occupied and things to do. Some of Debrecen's most popular festivals at the start of the year include the ever-popular Masquerade Carnival each February, and also the Spring Festival of Performing Arts, which take places every year in March.
For something rather colourful and often fragrant, look out for the Debrecen Flower Carnival each August, a week-long event which is nothing short of a spectacular, started by a long procession of flower floats on St. Stephen's Day. Soon after and in September, the Jazz Days event is something for those who love the blues and all kinds of jazz, and attracts many renowned performers.
The Debrecen Jazz Days festival each December is now the oldest event of its kind in the whole of Hungary and attracts some of the world's very best jazz artists and musicians. Also popular is the International Festival of Military Bands (Katonazenekari).
