Located in the heart of York city centre, Newgate Market is one of the oldest markets in the country, dating back many hundreds of years. Next to York's Parliament Street, the Newgate Market is full of interesting market stalls, selling an enormous variety of market goods, including fresh fruit and vegetables, meats, fish, bread, cakes, flowers, plants, dried goods, fabrics, books, clothes, handicrafts and general market bric-a-brac. Newgate Market regularly attracts in excess o 120 market stalls and is held in the largest single pedestrianised area in the whole of Europe.

York Farmers' Markets

York's popular Farmers' Markets are held on Parliament Street, in central York. Attracting farmers, growers and food producers from an enormous distance around York city, the York Farmers' Markets are one of the most popular food markets in the York area. Selling produce directly to the public ensure that the prices are extremely low and the York Farmers' Markets usually attract large crowds of eager shoppers and market bargain hunters. All the good sold at the York Farmers' Markets have been produced by the market stallholder.
