Picture of beachfront shopsA high percentage of the shops of Scarborough town centre cater solely for the tourist trade, selling seaside souvenirs, such as pink rock, postcards and shells. There are several familiar shopping chains in the town and these include Marks & Spencer, Matalan and TK Maxx, as well as plenty of independent stores, fashion boutiques, a small market on South Bay, and a larger indoor market filled with antiques - located at the Market Hall and Vaults on St. Helen's Square.

Debenhams is the flagship store within Scarborough's Brunswick Shopping Centre off Westborough, and is open from Monday to Saturday, between the hours of 09:00 to 18:00, and again on Sunday, from 10:30 to 16:30. Some small shops in the town choose to close on Sundays, particularly during the considerably quieter winter months.
