Mosenicka Draga
I found that there was a bus service from near the market in Rijeka directly to Mosenicka Draga as we weren't able to rent a vehicle. For a bit of extra money someone from your hotel might take you as well. Some hotels even run a shuttle service to and from Mosenicka Draga.

Re. Masterfully kept Eastern European town
Did you try the boutique hotel. That's not its name but I think you will know what I'm talking about if you saw it? Lovely restaurants close by.

Masterfully kept Eastern European town
I'd seen plenty of documentaries and postcards that featured these wonderful but at times Gothic Eastern European towns and cities. They fascinated me. This is why I headed to Kastav, to enjoy its history. I also enjoyed the views of Kvarner bay and its historical town from the very top. Unfortunately I couldn't find anywhere to stay though.

Beside the sea
I booked our holiday to Rijeka because I'd heard all about Croatia and thought it would make a great difference to the usual Spain and Cyprus while we'd still be able to enjoy the beach. The best beach for me was at Moscenicka Draga. You might have to rent a car if you wish to travel there regularly from Rijeka though.

Sunbathing and hiking on the same holiday
We found nothing wrong with the beach at Mosenicka Draga but fancied a change one day, which is why we sought advice and arranged transport to the national park - Northern Velebit. There was local wildlife to each side of the path as well as mountains in the background.
