Motorbike Rental
I think that you can just as well rent a motorbike and use it to go into the mountains, if you wish. Not as safe, but I'm sure the people up there will be just as receptive whether you are with a tour group or not. The language barrier might prove a problem though.

A jeep tour
I soon learned that wherever you are in Vietnam, you are never too far from the countryside - as can be seen by taking a look into the distance. The backdrop in Da Nang is simply stunning and I found that a mountain jeep tour was one of the best ways to explore it. I also got to meet many of the local ethnic groups that live in the mountains and near to them.

Re. So beautiful
Did you see the shops nearby? You can talk to the owners or staff and they'll take care of your bike for you. You usually don't have to pay them a cracker either, just a polite look around their shop when you come back will be enough to keep them happy.

So beautiful
For me it was a life-changing experience when I finally got to near the top of the Marble Mountains in Da Nang. I will always remember looking down on the city and beyond into the distance. A lovely breeze once you get up there but try and pack something to keep you warm as it might be too cool for some. The only problem is that I was worrying about whether or not my rented bike would be safe.

Lovely and clean
Whether you want to call it China Beach or Non Huoc, this is the most amazing one of its kind I've ever seen in Asia and I couldn't believe how clean it was considering its close proximity to the town. Never too busy either, or it didn't seem to be whenever I was there. Maybe I just got lucky!
