Hanoi Weather, When to Go and Climate Information

(Hanoi, Vietnam)

The climate of Hanoi is typical of that experienced in northern Vietnam, with hot and humid summer weather, followed by relatively dry and mild winters. Regularly described as being 'humid subtropical', Hanoi's climate is at its hottest in March and April, when temperatures climb to more than 35°C / 95°F

Summer in Hanoi falls between May and September, a period receiving much of the annual rainfall, particularly when compared to the noticeably drier spring season. The summer months mark the busiest tourist period for the city, and those visiting at this time of the year should arrive expecting changeable weather - generally a mixture of strong sunshine and heavy showers.

Seasonal Climate Variations / When to Go

Holiday makers who can manage to arrive outside of the summer peaks will likely be able to enjoy a more predictable climate, as well as less crowded streets.

Between November and February, rainy weather is at its most unlikely, while daytime temperatures still manage to average a very favourable 31°C / 88°F to 32°C / 90°F. The rainy season generally arrives in February, continuing all the way into September. If you are unlucky during your visit, you may well experience a solid week of rain, while conversely, a holiday the following week may reveal plenty of fine weather and blue skies.
