Kuantan Hotels and Accommodation

(Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia)

For many years, there was only one five-star hotel in the city, the Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort, although a second has recently opened, the Zenith Hotel, and now provides some much-needed competition. Four-star accommodation is plentiful, however, and there are a number of beach resorts strung out along Kuantan's seven attractive beaches. Serviced apartments are also available in the downtown area.

Budget lodging and cheap accommodation can be found, but this tends to be further from the waterfront. Phase one of the resort city is now open, with its themed Caribbean-style scenic resort suites and water park, and this is already proving popular.

Where to Stay

The Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort is the principal five-star luxury accommodation choice, set on the beautiful Telok Chempedak Beach, and offers a dream experience for those with comparatively deep pockets. The MS Garden Hotel off the Jalan Beserah is another good upmarket option, being conveniently close to the Berjaya Megamall.

Most of the mid-range hotels are also located on or near the beaches, although others, such as the Mega-View Hotel Kuantan, can be found along the banks of the river in the heart of the city. Another interesting four-star lodging option is the Duta Sand Beach Resort on the outskirts, on the Jalan Beserah, which resides next to a fishing village and the Balok Beach.

The De Ruh Beach resort is an additional option of note in Kuantan, being also located on the Jalan Beserah and especially family oriented. For those who'd be lost without an enclosed holiday environment, popular Club Med accommodation is conveniently near the Telok Chempedak Beach.

A number of budget lodging options have been recently upgraded and modernised, with the centrally located GreenLast Hotel being a good example, featuring air-con accommodation and en-suite bathrooms at very reasonable prices.

For budget travellers looking to save every penny possible, there are a few hostels scattered around the city of Kuantan. However, a careful choice between slightly more upmarket and budget business hotels may result in better accommodation at the same price as a hostel.
