Varanasi Hotels and Accommodation

(Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India)

Picture of popular riverfront ghatsThere are a large number of hotels spread all over Varanasi, with many now choosing to also provide a convenient free accommodation pickup service from the railway station, and also at times, from Babatpur Airport. This means that tourists arriving in Varanasi will be able to enjoy an easy transfer directly to the hotel, therefore avoiding the potential hassle and confusion caused by auto rickshaws touting for business.

Varanasi has become known for its rather unpredictable power cuts, and so some of the city's biggest and best hotels have now even chosen to install their very own generators, to ensure a constant power supply at all times. Around the Ghats area, much of the accommodation will suggest that guests return to their hotel by 22:00.

Where to Stay

Discount rates during the low season (between April and July) are commonplace, which can mean quite a saving. However, since this is the hottest time of the year in Varanasi, those arriving in the summer should be sure that hotels provide adequate air conditioning.

Around the Ghats, many of even the cheapest hotels come complete with some very special views of Varanasi itself, particularly around the Assi Ghat, the Meer Ghat, the Pandhey Ghat and the Scindhia Ghat.

Luxury lodging in the city comes in the form of the Hotel Taj Ganges, which stands proudly on the Raja Bazaar Road and enjoys a specious setting within 12-acre / 5-hectare landscaped grounds.
