Helena Golf Courses and Clubs

Montana contains plenty of very decent golf courses, and in the vicinity of downtown Helena are three of particular note.

Amongst the best is the 18-hole Green Meadow Country Club, which is to be found on the western side of the city, close to the Spring Meadow Lake State Park. The big feature at this course is the beautiful natural backdrop of hills and the 10-Mile Creek, which meanders its way along the course and attracts much native wildlife.

Roughly a 20-minute drive to the northeast of downtown Helena is the Fox Ridge Golf Course, where a number of tournaments take place during the summer months. These include the Darwin Simac Memorial in mid-June and the Jude Gleason Memorial towards the end of July. Alternatively, many people come here for a meal at the popular Red Fox Supper Club.


Sandwiched in between Batch Fields and Nature Park is the centrally located Bill Roberts Municipal Golf Course, which opened here in the middle of the 1920s and welcomes visitors to its 18 holes. There are also comprehensive practice facilities (including a driving range), a pro shop, a very decent restaurant (the Bar and Grill) and excellent cityscape views. Membership packages and season passes are available, offering good value for money when you are planning repeat visits.
