Springfield Hotels and Accommodation

(Springfield, Illinois - IL, USA)

The state capital of Illinois may be tiny in comparison to the metropolis that is Chicago (the state's biggest city), but there is certainly enough accommodation in Springfield to meet the needs of visitors looking for hotels.

Much of the lodging resides on the outskirts of Springfield, often being close to Interstate I-55 (east) and Interstate I-72 (south). Here, chain motels are in good supply, offering cheap budget accommodation with good road connections.

If you prefer a more central location, then your choice of hotels certainly becomes smaller and a little more limited. Popular choices in downtown Springfield include the likes of the Mansion View Inn on South 4th Street, which stands just a stone's throw from the Lincoln Home National Historic City and the Old Aristocracy Hill neighborhood.

Where to Stay

Further accommodation is available in Springfield city center, lining East Adams Street. This is where you will find the State House Inn and the Hilton Hotel, both of which offer upmarket four-star lodging in historic downtown.

Also standing on East Adams Street is the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel and Conference Center, which has good facilities, although mixed reviews. Nearby, the Springfield Homestyle Inn on North 1st Street and the Carpenter Street Hotel on North 6th Street provide further choice in the city center.

A noticeable group of hotels reside on the southeastern side of Springfield, next to exit 94 on Interstate I-74. Cheap accommodation in this part of the city comes in the form of familiar brands lining the South Dirksen Parkway, such as the Comfort Suites, Drury Inn and Suites, Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn and Holiday Inn Express.
