Spectacular Monterey Bay Aquarium
Monterey Bay Aquarium is one of the world's biggest - so don't arrive at 4pm or anything, because you won't have enough time to do its justice. We arrived mid morning, on the Cannery Row, and were blown away. The centerpiece is a huge marine tank which is over ten meters tall - filled with fish and sharks and things like that. They sometimes have great white sharks here, but release them into the wild once they get to big and start eating the other sharks - yes, that really happened!

The 17 Mile Drive
We spent a very enjoyable day exploring the 17 Mile Drive. We drove past the Pebble Beach Golf Club and lots od huge houses - this is clearly where a lot of wealthy people live. Lovely scenery, lots of wildlife. We started at Pacific Grove and paid about 8 dollars for the car. You could join a tour bus if you haven't got a car.

Sea Lions Spotting
You can often spot sea lions swimming around the harbor and sunning thrmselves on the rocks. If you can't, or that's not enough for you, then I would suggest visiting the Monterey Bay National Sanctuary, where there are thousands upon thousands.

Whale Watching in Monterey
I've always dreamt of going whale watching and when we came to Monterey we thought we'd give it a go. Our boat departed from the wharf and we waved goodbye to all of the sea lions as we headed towards Moss Landing. I think we were pretty lucky, because we saw no less than four massive humpback whales - yes four. We couldn't believe it and were buzzing all the way home. Best bit of the holiday, and it only cost about thirty dollars all in for each of us.
