Located in California along the Pacific coast is the city of Monterey. 'The cradle of history', as it is famously termed, is known for having the ideal combination of land and sea. It is home to some of California's most exquisite scenery as well as its own world-renowned attractions.

Its large variety of sea life attracts thousands of visitors a year, the majority of them being scuba divers. Monterey is considered one of best places for scuba diving in California. It is also home to one of the largest aquariums in the United States, Monterey Bay Aquarium.


Downtown District

Monterey's historic downtown area is filled with one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants. Cannery Row is a favorite tourist stop lined with restaurants offering different styles of cuisine. Fifteen minutes walk from Cannery Row and Monterey Bay Aquarium is Monterey's downtown area. 'Old Town' Monterey is full of historic structures that are easily explored on foot. A farmers' market takes place on Tuesday afternoons on Alvarado Street. Fisherman's Wharf and the Maritime Museum are just a few of the places that should be visited in downtown Monterey.

Cannery Row

Cannery Row is a world-known attraction and it offers activities to suit people of all ages. The area is made for walking, so a car is not necessary. Ceramics, paintings and jewelry on show can keep young adults occupied, while children may enjoy the exhibits at the Monterey County Youth Museum. With around 25 restaurants, meals are easy to come by. There are more than 150 stores at Cannery Row as well as other specialties such as a resort hotel and spa. An assortment of inns and other accommodation are scattered within walking distance of Cannery Row.
