Re: The Heart of Guatemala
I loved the fountain too, especially in the evenings. The architectural landmarks are not just physically pleasing but represent the economic, cultural and political feel of place so well.

The Heart of Guatemala
Antigua, situated in the central highlands of Guatemala is filled with some great ruins of colonial churches. The heart of the city lies in the Parque Central area; literally Central Park. There lies a Beautiful fountain there where loads of locals and tourists alike, gather. I enjoyed my time in Antigua - especially the architectural landmarks.

Antigua Cathedral
Well known for the religious ceremonies that take place in Holy Week, Antigua is an interesting place to visit around this time. There are parades and the Cathedral will hold some services there. Highly recommended.

Colonial Charm
Antigua's colonial charm makes it very appealing to many nationalities and here you will find such cultural diversity all with one thing in common; a love for the Antiguan, enchanting and romantic town.

Good Friday
The best time to visit Antigua is in Holy week and especially on Good Friday. This is the busiest week of the year so make sure that you are prepared for all the crowds, well worth it though!
