Albufeira's mild Mediterranean climate makes it a popular place for expatriates from the UK, the Netherlands and Germany. It's sunny and relatively dry year-round, and temperatures remain comfortable in every season. Even in the low tourist season, when rain is a little more likely to fall, all-around pleasant weather means Albufeira continues to see a steady stream of holiday makers.

The most popular time to visit the Algarve is during July and August, and this is when Albufeira sees the highest temperatures and experiences the driest weather. Hotels fill up during this season, and the beaches closest to the city centre remain busy throughout daylight hours. Visiting on the shoulders of the July - August season is wise, as it allows for a similar climate but smaller crowds.

The summer season lasts from June to late August and sees daytime highs regularly exceeding 26°C / 79°F. The mercury rises a few degrees more on the hottest days, when the activity hinges on the beaches. It rarely rains at this time, and practically every day is perfect for water sports and sightseeing along the Algarve.

During December and January, temperatures hang around the 17°C / 63°F mark. Of course, the climate gets even cooler in the evening, so it's a good idea to pack a light jacket for evening strolls and al fresco dinners by the sea. While this is the rainiest season of the year, precipitation is still low overall. It is wise to have a backup activity in case of rainy weather, but this is unlikely to become an issue.
