The climate in Penzance is known for being extremely mild at all times, being strongly influenced by its setting on the Land's End peninsula of western Cornwall.

Much of this part of the county is bordered by the sea and this, combined with the mild air arriving from the Gulf Stream after it passes over the Atlantic Ocean, means that the weather and expected temperatures in Penzance are fairly stable at most times.

As a direct result of its coastal location, Penzance features some of the warmest weather in the whole of England and the winter climate here is noticeably milder than other more inland areas. The mild and often rather pleasant winter weather in Penzance means that many of the plants here grow all the year round, meaning that it is usually necessary to mow lawns on a weekly basis at this time of the year.


The summer weather in Penzance is often extremely favourable and usually arrives early. Summer highs of 25°C / 77°F are commonplace on the sunniest days in June, July and August. This tends to be the town's busiest period, when many visitors arrive here to enjoy the sun, sea and sand.

It is usual for spring in this part of Cornwall to be several weeks ahead of northern England, with bulbs flowering much sooner, in some cases towards the end of December.
