(Vienna / Wien, Austria)

Picture of centrally located hotelThe city of Vienna is not known for its budget accommodation and lodging, and both hotels and pensions (guesthouses) can be pricey, even during the low season. In the summer months, it is essential to book your hotel well ahead, since accommodation in Vienna can quickly fill up.

In you prefer small and rather intimate cheap youth hostels to more expensive hotels, then Vienna does have a few options to choose from. The most popular includes the Panda Hostel on the Kaiserstrasse, the Hostel Ruthensteiner on the Robert Hamerling Gasse, the Jugendherberge Hostel Vienna on the Myrthengasse, and the friendly Believe It or Not Hostel, which is located within a small apartment in the 7th district, just a short stroll from the historical city centre.

Where to Stay

The Tourist Office will be happy to provide a list of private rooms for those preferring to self cater, or alternatively they can provide a handy camping leaflet detailing all of the nearby camp sites. Cheap accommodation is available between July and September, when the student residences are let to visiting tourists.

Mid-range hotels in Vienna are often central and tucked away in peaceful cul-de-sacs, such as the Kartnerhof Hotel on the Grashofgasse.
