Get There Before 9pm!
And so the diving was perfect, but you can see the damage to the reef system now. At night, it was not so easy to find a bar. Many have dress code or charge high price. One good one was the Gilligan's Back Bar. Beer a little cheaper and young crowd.

Take It To Go
We wanted to go on a beach holiday to see the Great Barrier Reef. Everyone enjoyed, but it was high cost. It is a good idea to take the lotions and things for the sun with you because the stores in Cairns can charge too much.

Find a Way to Stay
Of course Cairns is the gateway for visiting the Great Barrier Reef so there are a quite a few tourists. There are also a lot of young kids in their early twenties that were in some kind of work exchange program so that could stay in Australia longer - it was impressive. I was only there for a week and wish I could have stayed more - beautiful place

Re. Not Worth the Effort
Agreed. It is basically just a casino with a small animal 'shelter' inside. I didn't visit Tjapuki Park, but I read that it is more of a tourist trap than an authentic cultural museum. Cairns does mess with tourists a bit, but the diving is worth it.

Not Worth the Effort
Don't go to Cairns Wildlife Dome - there so many better things to do like Tjapuki Park - it was really rather disappointing.

Perfect Day Out For the Dives
I went to Cairns to do the diving at the reef. I already book before so I was not surprised at the cost, but many people said that they have a problem with the exchange rate and cost. I thought it was professional and that they took care of us. It was good to meet the other people - all of the diving will share the same place to jump from. Must recommend before it is too late!
