Ho Chi Minh City Hotels and Accommodation

(Ho Chi Minh City / Saigon, Vietnam)

Ho Chi Minh City is Vietnam's main hub for commerce, tourism and travel. Its range of accommodation includes everything from budget hostels to five-star business hotels, ensuring you will be able to find lodging that suits your tastes.

The hotels in Ho Chi Minh City are concentrated in specific parts of the city, such as Dong Khoi. However, since the tourist attractions are in these same areas, they are easily reached no matter where you choose to stay.

Where to Stay

Take your pick from quirky backstreet guest houses, spotless mini-hotels, or luxury suites. You will find the biggest selection of hotels around District 1's Nguyen Hue and the Dong Khoi streets. This is arguably the most central area to stay, since many of Ho Chi Minh City's best shops, restaurants and bars can be found in District 1.

If you are craving that classic French colonial ambiance, the digs at the Majestic or the Grand Hotel will do the trick. Both of these beauties are sympathetically restored 1920s structures, conveniently located within walking distance to all the action. If it is modern luxury accommodation you are after, try the legendary Caravelle Hotel or the Intercontinental Asiana Saigon. Both of these five-star hotels provide the best in service and style, right in the heart of the commercial and entertainment district of Ho Chi Minh City.

The city's best neighbourhood for budget lodging is the Pham Ngu Lao area. Considered the backpacker's hub, there are literally hundreds of cheap guest houses and slightly more upscale mini-hotels tucked away down the countless alleys around Pham Ngu Lao and the De Tham streets. The budget lodging scene in Ho Chi Minh City offers excellent value, and more often than not, clean and well-managed accommodation. A good time to travel is during the low season, between March and September, when you can often find big discounts on room rates.
