Re. Amazing marvel of nature
I know it sounds like an obvious suggestion, but you should perhaps visit in summer instead of the back-end of the rainy season. Or maybe your group was running late? That could have also occurred.

Re. Hanging around at Hang Bo Nau
Next time you can hop on bus number 2012, it's usually painted pink, from Lach Tray Street and it will take you to Do Son Beach. One for the gamblers as it has one of the country's only casinos.

Amazing marvel of nature
Loved the Bay of the Descending Dragons, or Vinh Ha Long if you want to use the local name. There are amazing natural bodies of water and I enjoyed them even though it was a bit cold and overcast. Look around for the best group to tour with as there have been complaints about some not running on time.

Hanging around at Hang Bo Nau
After I enjoyed the Bay of the Descending Dragons so much, I dived straight into arranging transport to Pelican Cave. These were incredibly mysterious caverns and everything ran smoothly with the group as everything was so well-organised. The only thing I could have done with in Hai Phong is an escape to the beach.

A more peaceful retreat
One day while in Hai Phong, I decided to escape the madness and take up on some advice to visit Cat Ba island. It was great for swimming and a lot calmer than both Hai Phong and Do Son Beach put together.
