Hai Phong Hotels and Accommodation

(Hai Phong, Vietnam)

Due to the large number of business travellers heading for Hai Phong each year, the hotel sector is well supplied with all classes of accommodation. The major hotels cluster around the city centre and Dien Benh Phu Street, and are mainly aimed at the business community. A further selection of hotels and a few resorts are found along the harbourfront and seacoast.

At the backpacker level in Hai Phong, there are a good number of guest houses, hostels, bed and breakfasts (B&Bs) and lodges scattered around the city, mostly owner-operated, giving a great way to meet other travellers and compare notes, as well as to get a glimpse of Vietnamese life.

Where to Stay

Mid-range hotels and lodging options can be found in Hai Phong city centre and along the harbour, while for luxury accommodation, Cat Ba Island has upscale resorts with spa facilities set on secluded private beaches within easy reach of downtown Hai Phong, with its cosmopolitan shopping and dining options.

Cat Ba Island has the best of the luxury accommodation, as well as relatively clean air, beaches and lots of greenery. In particular, the Cat Ba Resort and Spa offers an extensive list of amenities aimed at upscale visitors, including a gym, heath spa and sports facilities, along with everything for the business traveller. Two more five-star options are the Cat Ba Sunrise Resort and the Tien Leng Spa Resort, with its hot spring.

In the heart of Hai Phong's business district is the pink-painted Huu Nghi Hotel and the quaintly named Do Son Trade Union, with both hotels offering comfortable facilities with the usual extras.

The three-star Harbour View Hotel is set in an attractive old colonial building and the centrally located Quang Minh Hotel, although small, provides excellent accommodation and a friendly service. The huge rectangular block of the Nam Cuong Hotel may not be an architectural gem, but its location is good for most sights and it is close to the pier for boats to Cat Ba and other islands.
