South West Lombok coastal attractions
As regular visitors to the island we think you are missing out if you haven't ventured along the South West peninsula.....beautiful bays/beaches pretty unspoilt by tourism. We part own a villa past in the Pelangan area which is a couple of hours drive from the airport. There are no tourist bars/restaurants and at times electricity or even water is unavailable but if you an rise above these things it is a fantastic place just to stop being part of the rat race, do absolutely nothing except perhaps watch the geekos, cows, eagles, fishermen or fish/coral with some snorkelling/diving. The only real sign of "progress" is the motorbikes on the single coast road. Come down and visit and ENJOY!!!

Re. perfect for diving beginners
You're right! Plenty more to pick from in plenty of different locations other than on Gili Air with Gili Trawangan and Senggigi just two of them! I would recommend the latter one to any French would-be divers as their countrymen are well established there.

Perfect for diving beginners
As anyone that has been to the Gili islands before will vouch, you are literally spoiled for choice when it comes to picking a diving spot. As I was, and probably still am really, an absolute beginner I had to choose a group that would be patient with me and was able to with Manta Dive Gili Air. There are plenty of others to choose from though, and this is by no means a plug!

Re. Stunning views that aren't in the sea
Not sure what your views are on waterfalls buddy given your comments on diving but as a fellow trekker I would recommend Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep. Simply amazing! Anyone reading this that is interested should try and be in the best shape possible before trying it though!

Stunning views that aren't in the sea
I thought I was perhaps a little strange when I got to this part of Indonesia and felt like the only guy that wasn't doing diving. Each to their own but I'm more of a hiker, which is why I loved Mount Rinjani - Indonesia's second tallest. Some of the best views I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying in South East Asia and a great hike too.

Relaxing at the spa
Although we were having a lovely time, my husband and I decided we should perhaps spend an afternoon apart, especially as he was watching the cricket live from Australia! He gave me a great treat by purchasing an afternoon of being pampered at the Bulan Madu Spa. I've never been as relaxed since then unfortunately!
