Lombok Hotels and Accommodation

(Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia)

The Indonesian island of Lombok is a popular place to holiday, and is at its busiest during the dry season from May to October, when hotels are in demand. Accommodation on Lombok is rather spread around the island, although the best lodging choices do tend to be concentrated along the Senggigi strip, directly to the north of the Mataram's Selaparang Airport.

As the capital city on Lombok, Mataram offers a very reasonable selection of mid-range and budget accommodation, with the most convenient and dependable hotels tending to be located within the Cakranegara area.

Where to Stay

Lembar and the South-Western Peninsula is an extremely scenic part of Lombok and the port for both Bali, with Pelni ferries stopping at Lembar on a fairly frequent basis. However, hotels here are far from plentiful and during the rainy season, a number close their doors to guests.

Accommodation around the South-Western Peninsula does have the distinct advantage of being near to some exceptionally beautiful beaches. Reliable choices include the Sekotong Indah Beach Cottages (west of Taun), the beachfront octagonal bungalows at the Bola Bola Paradise Resort (west of Pelangan) and the floating island resort of Nirvana Roemah Air.

Senggigi is a further tourist destination worthy of consideration and hotels in this part of Lombok are well placed for scuba diving trips to the nearby Gili Islands. Most hotels here are located along the main thoroughfare, the Jalan Raya Senggigi, and close to Mangsit Beach, such as the Holiday Resort Lombok and the sumptuous beach bungalows forming the complex of the Senggigi Beach Hotel.

If you are planning to look for accommodation in north and central Lombok, then the most popular locations include the villages of Batu Koq and Senaru, the resort of Sembalun Lawang, and the very relaxed village of Sapit, overlooking Sumbawa. Situated at the base of the Gunung Rinjani volcano, the hotels within Tetebatu certainly offer a rustic feel and awesome vistas across rice paddies and the countryside.

For some exceptional surfing, Kuta Beach is certainly a tourist hotspot on Lombok and lies on the south coast of the island. Accommodation at Kuta Beach is never far from the Indian Ocean and comes in the form of small hotels, guest houses, homestays and bungalows. Two of the most popular hotels at Kuta Beach include the very stylish Surfers Inn, and the luxury Novotel Lombok, which boasts thatched villas, swimming pools, spa facilities and catamaran sailing excursions for guests.
