When it comes to golfing attractions around Wisconsin's state capital, there are certainly plenty of courses to choose between, both in Madison and close by, around the neighboring suburbs such as Middleton, just a few miles to the northwest.

Located in nearby Middleton is the particularly scenic Bishops Bay Country Club, which is to be found on the northern side of Lake Mendota and boasts distracting views of the Madison skyline, crowned by the imposing dome of the Wisconsin State Capitol.

The largest course is the Yahara Hills, where two 18-hole championship layouts date from the late 1960s and often host important state championships. Somewhat older is the Blackhawk Country Club, which was established at the beginning of the 1920s within the Shorewood Hills area and comes with superb vistas across Lake Mendota.
