Harrisburg Restaurants and Dining

(Harrisburg, Pennsylvania - PA, USA)

Downtown and Midtown Harrisburg is where you will find the biggest assortment of restaurants, coffee shops and eateries, often being near to the Susquehanna River.

If you are planning an evening of fine dining, then there are certainly plenty of options, although it is worth bearing in mind that you may well need to book a table at the weekend. This is particularly so at the busiest and most popular restaurants in the city.

Since the turn of the new millennium, the nighttime scene in Harrisburg has seen much improvement, with the opening of new restaurants, eateries, wine bars and nightclubs. In the daytime, cafes and coffee shops cater to the crowds of shoppers and local office workers, while between the hours of 17:00 and 19:00, a number of dining establishments choose to tempt in diners with 'early bird' specials.

Where to Eat

Located within downtown Harrisburg (around Market Street and South 3rd Street), the aptly named 'Restaurant Row' should be your first port of call for an evening of dining. Restaurant Row is called home by more than 50 different eateries of all description, including familiar brands such as Arby's, Dunkin Donuts, Jimmy John's, Starbucks and Subway, all of which are perfect for a quick snack.

Those in the mood for pizza and beer should check out Restaurant Row's very own Anthony's Micro Pub on North 2nd Street. For tasty sandwiches, ribeye steaks and gourmet burgers in this part of Harrisburg, the nearby Brick City Bar and Grille offers a meal with a sports bar atmosphere.

For fine dining with traditional rustic Italian dishes, pay a visit to Carley's Ristorante and Piano Bar on Locust Street, where lasagna, sausage risotto and truffle ravioli are all specialties. At the El Sol Mexican Restaurant on South 3rd Street, spicy Mexican fare includes burritos, fajitas and tortillas.

The award-winning Fire House is also sited along Harrisburg's acclaimed Restaurant Row and has daily seasonal specials, such as trout, prime rib dinners and salads.

Starbucks, on Market Street, is the perfect place for a coffee and a cake in downtown Harrisburg, while for something a little more substantial, head to the restaurants at the dining court within the Strawberry Square retail complex. Here you can choose between the Chinese food at Chef Chen's Express, pizzas at the Two Brother's Pizzeria, and the Mexican-style fare available at both the Santa Fe Mexican Grille and Taco Bell.
