Hotels tend to be more pricey during the summer months, and those wishing to stay in Carmel during the winter will find that lodging rates can drop by as much as a third.

However, conversely, if there is a major weekend event taking place on the Monterey Peninsula, then hotels can hike their prices by a half or more, depending upon demand. Do bear in mind that accommodation in the Carmel area often requires a minimum of a two-night stay during the summer season.
