Seasonal Climate Variations / When to Go

These winter months tend to see the least rainy weather, averaging around 63 mm / 2.5 inches per month, and so an umbrella is less likely to be a necessary item of luggage than in January and February, which each feature around 120 mm / 4.7 inches of rain. Occasionally during the winter, snow arrives in Buenos Aires and the city has even seen heavy blizzard in recent years, although this is somewhat unusual.

Despite being the wettest months in Buenos Aires, both January and February experience the hottest climate, averaging around 30°C / 86°F by day, and enjoying enviable night-time temperatures of 20°C / 68°F or thereabouts. Although the wet weather can come in the form of heavy showers, these rarely spoil an entire day and the summer is still a very sunny time of the Argentinean year.
