St. Petersburg Pulkovo Airport (LED) Information
(St. Petersburg, North-Western Federal District, Russia)
Serving more than 9.5 million passengers each year, Pulkovo Airport is the only air gateway into the Russian city of St. Petersburg. This facility has been in operation since its establishment in 1932, when the city of St. Petersburg was named Leningrad. The operator of the airport is Northern Capital Gateway.
The airport is Russia's fourth busiest, being behind the three international gateways serving
Moscow (Domodedovo,
Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo). There are two runways, with both measuring more than 3,300 metres / 10,830 feet. Terminal 1 is set aside for domestic flights, while international flights are handled by Terminal 2. Just under 50 aircraft stands are located throughout the two terminals.
Rossiya is the main airline flying into and out of St. Petersburg's terminals. However, it flies on behalf of Aeroflot. Transaero Airlines, Ural Airlines and UTair Aviation together offer a number of routes to domestic and international destinations. In total, there are roughly 60 airlines based here.

Cars
Driving to the airport by car is a great way to reach the facility. From the heart of St. Petersburg, motorists need to head south along the M10 motorway (Moskovsky Prospekt) before joining the M20 (Kiyevskoye Shosse). This well-signed motorway is one of the largest arterial roads in the city. Even though the terminals are far apart, they can both be reached via the M20.
Buses
Buses are a popular option for travellers. Two major bus lines operate from the airport into the centre of St. Petersburg. From Terminal 1, line 39 travels to the main rail station of the city. Line 13 also journeys to the central train station, although from Terminal 2. Buses leave the terminals every eight minutes or thereabouts.
Taxis
Both terminals have a taxi service desk available for arriving passengers. The journey into the heart of the city usually takes about 30 minutes. Most taxi drivers generally arrange a fixed price prior to leaving the airport.
