The Hague Museums and Art Galleries

Den Haag's many museums present plenty for the historian, along with fun-filled attractions for children. Those with an interest in the city's past will no doubt enjoy spending time at the Historical Museum of The Hague, known locally as the Haags Historisch Museum.

For families, the interactive science museum that is the Museon should be penciled in, while for art lovers, the Rembrandt masterpieces at the Mauritshuis art gallery will be sure to please. The Hague's Prison Gate Museum (Gevangenpoort) is also often of interest to tourists and this is an important surviving remnant of the city's medieval fortifications, dating back to the 13th century.
