Outdoor bliss on the Emerald Isle
We ventured 40 miles from our hotel in Galway to the Connemara National Park. Although it was raining, as can probably be expected in Ireland, we enjoyed a great walk and were in outdoor heaven. Next time we're going to stay a little closer to the park on the days we wish to hike as we were a little too tired to drive back after having gone there and walked so long.

Re. A street that has everything
Mr/Ms Heaney, did you try Eyre Square? More of the same as on Quay Street but a lot less rowdy in my opinion - although I understand that is sometimes desired by people in search of the 'craic'. Anyway, just a suggestion and closer to the centre than Quay Street is.

A street that has everything
All the action in Galway starts and ends on Quay Street in my opinion. As a Yank visiting relatives in Galway, I loved evenings here that gave me the unique Irish experience Boston and New York just fall short of providing. Not just one for the drinkers though as there are plenty of shopping options and places to eat.

Amazing that they are so old
I enjoyed the castle walls in York, England on my trip of the UK and Ireland but Galway's Medieval City Walls, which have remarkably stood since the 17th century, just did it for me. A lovely walk of less than a mile from most city centre accommodation and perfect to visit before or after having done the historic walk along Salthill Promenade.

Sittin' at the dock of the bay
I spent a lovely day at Galway in the bay. Just watching people and the boats walking by with lovely background. I was too tired to walk that day after crazy parties on Quay Street but Galway Bay was just what I needed. There are walks you can do too if you get more energy than I was having!
