(Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory, Malaysia)

Waterfront lodging pictureThe city of Kuala Lumpur need not be an expensive place to stay, and a number of districts offer a selection of affordable hotels and lodging options. However, accommodation in Kuala Lumpur tends to be cheapest within the city centre and vibrant Chinatown area.

In recent years, many reasonably priced hotels have appeared around the Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and the Jalan Pudu, which are conveniently just a stone's throw from the more expensive Golden Triangle area. If you time your visit well to Kuala Lumpur, you may find luxury accommodation offering tempting discounts, which can make them very enticing.

Where to Stay

If you can afford to stay within the Golden Triangle of Kuala Lumpur, you will find that by paying just a little more, your accommodation will be close to a multitude of restaurants, bars and shops, particularly along the Bitang Walk.

The main entertainment district is also conveniently in this part of the city, so you certainly won't be stuck for things to do if you stay at hotels such as the elegant Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur and the rather upscale Sheraton Imperial, both of which reside on the Jalan Sultan Ismail, in the heart of the Golden Triangle, amidst tropical gardens.
