Ibiza Beaches and Resorts
(Ibiza, Balearic Islands, Spain)
With over 50 beautiful beaches adding up to more than 50 km / 30 miles of stunning coastline, the sunny island of Ibiza has many excellent expanses of fine golden sand and clear blue waters. Some of the best beaches on Ibiza can be found along the island's south-eastern coastline, between Santa Eularia des Riu and Cala de Santa Vicent.
Many of the larger beaches include restaurants, beachside bars and a variety of water sports. There are also many other more private secluded coves and it is still possible to find a quieter spot on this lively party island.
During the summer season, all of the main beaches come with lifeguards and it is important to note that safe swimming areas are clearly marked by buoys, although you can swim outside these zones if you so wish. Topless sunbathing is considered to be quite acceptable and in the resorts, people generally spend much of their holiday simply walking around in trendy beachwear.
Cala es Figueral
This long sandy Ibiza beach has small rocky islets close to the shore. The northern portion of Cala es Figueral is much favoured by nudists looking for an all-over suntan.
Cala de Boix
The Cala de Boix beach is surrounded by rich green hills and remains fairly quiet, even during the busiest part of the year. Situated close to Punta Prima, this spot also has excellent views of Illa de Tagomago.
Platja des Canar
The busy Ibiza resort of Platja des Canar has a small sandy beachfront and the surrounding area is full of bars, cafés, restaurants and shops. Of note, Platja des Canar is located near the pleasure boat harbour.
Platja des Niu Blau
Platja des Niu Blau beach is situated within a sheltered cove. Surrounded by large pine trees, the water here is very shallow and this is a popular spot for families.
Cala Llonga beach can be found between Punta Roja and Puig de sas Torretes. The bay is around 300 metres / 1,000 feet in length and Cala Llonga is a friendly resort, attracting large numbers of Ibiza tourists and sunbathers.
Platja del Pinos
Near to Santa Eularia, the Platja del Pinos beach is located at the mouth of the Riu de Santa Eularia (Santa Eularia River), which completely dries up during the summer months.
