The Marseille Provence Airport is one of the busiest in France, welcoming a total of more than seven million passengers each year. The facility primarily serves Marseille city, in the Provence-Alpes Cote d'Azur region of the country. This air facility has become a major hub for the region, especially during the peak summer months.
Marseille's airport is serviced by over 30 airlines, which have flights originating in more than 90 destinations across the world. The resident terminal is a single, two-storey structure which handles both international and domestic services. Hall 1 services international traffic, while the others host domestic flights.
In addition to catering for its millions of annual passengers, the Marseille Provence Airport is France's second-busiest cargo air facility. About 45,000 tonnes of cargo freight pass through each year, with Air France being the primary passenger airline serving the site.

The Marseille Provence Airport is located in Marignane, about 20 km / 12 miles to the north-west of the city's downtown districts. It sits on the south-eastern French coastline, about 15 km / 10 miles south-east of
Aix en Provence. The airport's passenger numbers continue to increase each year.

Cars
Driving to Marseille is easy from the airport. Motorists can follow the Autoroute du Soleil, which is otherwise known as the A7. It leads directly to Marseille from the airport. The city is only ten minutes away by car, but traffic in the city can be congested and parking is often difficult.
Buses
Shuttle buses are provided for a small cost from the terminal. Buses travel to Marseille's Gare Saint Charles train station, as well as Marignane, Le Luc and Aix-en-Provence. Buses operate seven days a week and depart from the airport every half an hour.
Trains
The airport's train station is accessed by shuttle bus from the terminal. There are more than 40 trains into the city each day. Prices are reasonable and the train journey into Marseille takes less than 20 minutes.
Taxis
Taxis are available from the terminal, with different tariffs for night and day travel. Between the hours of 19:00 and 07:00, a more expensive night tariff applies. Passengers can book a taxi before arriving at the Marseille Provence Airport.
