world guides
From Amsterdam to Zurich, Australia to Zambia (and all the destinations in between!) the world is open to the traveller as never before. And wherever there are travellers - whether they're businessmen or backpackers - there's the need for budget accommodation.
These days, though, when it comes to accommodation, wherever you are in the world, there's one standout choice: the hostel. Gone are the times when hostels were strictly for student travellers on gap years, too - more and more people are turning to hostels for a budget bed for the night.
And the number of hostels around the globe is matched only the endless variety: there are environmentally-friendly 'ecohostels' in Thailand, hostels on boats in Berlin, hostels in former prisons in Stockholm and Toronto... there are even treehouse hostels and cave hostels in Turkey!
So if you're looking for accommodation on your travels that won't break the bank... it's got to be a hostel!
New York -
Few (if any) cities can match the constant hustle and bustle of New York's streets. And not many have a range of top sights like the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building or the city's amazing Museum of Modern Art, either!
|
Paris -
Paris is renowned as a city for lovers. Couples on a romantic weekend away, never fail to be seduced by its beautiful old streets and sensational restaurants. Art lovers, too, won't be disappointed, with the Louvre just one of a number of the world's best art galleries.
|
London -
London's overflowing with things to see and do: Whether it's fantastic shopping, non-stop nightlife or world-class sights like the Tower of London or Buckingham Palace, the only problem is knowing where to start!
|
Barcelona -
Barcelona is a mixture of the broad boulevards of the Ramblas and the Passeig de Gracia, and the narrow alleyways of the Barri Gotic. An effortlessly sophisticated city of art and fashion... it's got some fantastic budget accommodation, too!
|
Rome -
Rome is probably the richest sightseeing destination in the world: Once you've exhausted the practically endless ancient Roman sites such as the Colosseum, the Forum and the Spanish Steps, there's always the Vatican.
|
Bangkok -
The colour and noise of the night markets, the dazzling palaces of the Wat Arun and Wat Phra Kaeo, and the fascinating 'khlongs'... Bangkok is both breathlessly exotic, and an unceasing assault on the senses.
